A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

John McColgan in Montana in 2000

Why is it that we react viscerally to the destruction of our environment but not ourselves?

Listen to a great interview with Brent Stirton, photographer, by Terry Gross. Stirton talks about the famous Virunga Gorilla murders in the Congo, a tragedy which broke news worldwide. One of Terry's most poignant questions I think, probes the human reaction to this issue. A handful of mountain gorillas - millions of people killed by civil war.
