First off, in case you were wondering, we survived the tsunami. The earthquake in Chile generated quite a scare throughout the Pacific. In the Juan Fernandez Islands which I hope to visit soon, several people were killed by the resulting wave. There was another earthquake in Indonesia the day I left Palau. The tsunami warning was particularly poignant for me, as many of the islands I've visited are low-lying and the most vulnerable to these disasters. To put a face to calamity changes the scale considerably. Keep these people and places in your prayers! On the Alingano Maisu, the sailing canoe, we only experienced shifty wind - so shifty I had to push back my flight. But so worth it!!
