For the end of Ramazan celebration I went to the tiny island of Utheem in the northern most atoll Haa Alif. Traditionally, islanders would build huge bonfires on the beach, and when the new moon appeared in the sky, they would light the bonfire to aware other islands of the end of Ramazan. Today they rely on television broadcast, but the tradition still exists in some small islands. With the rising sun, islanders are thrown into the water by their friends and family... I was not spared!
